If you need to repair a leaky bath tub faucet start by turning off the water to your home and opening the hot and cold water valves in your bath to drain any water still in the pipes.

When turning the faucet handles no longer fully shuts off the water flow the seat washers and seats probably need replacing.
Step 2 use a flat screwdriver and use a prying motion to remove the decorative cap on top of the handle.
Pry off the handle insert with the thin blade of a pocketknife.
Shut off the water supply to the faucet and open the valves to drain excess water from the system.
Once the screws are removed tug on the handle to detach it from the wall.
Step 3 a handle screw will now be visible remove the handle screw with a screwdriver.
Then use a philips screwdriver to remove the handle from the wall before unscrewing the trim and collar by hand.
Turn on water make sure the handle is in the off position then turn on the water by turning the knob under the sink counter clockwise.
Over time corrosion can virtually weld the handle to the stem.
Removing the faucet handle is the toughest part of the job.
Always replace both seat washers and seats on a double handle faucet.
